It ain't pretty, but it works!

See my last post on how to make this drop spindle "correctly".  I didn't have a gromet, so I used electrical tape, broke one cd trying to jam it over the tape, like you are supposed to. After screwing in the hook, the dowel started to crack, so I had to tape over the crack at the top. After putting all that tape on, jamming on the two cds, it still wobbles, so I had to stick more tape above the cds. My attempt to weave still looks bad, but I am not a quitter, no matter how bad it looks.
